My School

My school for Block B is Theodore Roosevelt and here is a link to it: http://www.usd383.org/schools/elementary/theodoreroosevelt/

Educational Sites

Here are some sites that I find helpful and fun to use in the classroom.

http://www.nasa.gov/audience/foreducators/index.html
This website has helpful resources for Science lessons and has the link to the NASA Kids Club:
http://www.nasa.gov/audience/forkids/kidsclub/flash/index.html

http://www.eric-carle.com/
After doing my Author/Illustrator project I became really fond of this website. It has a lot of fun and exciting things for kids to do, it even shows them how Eric Carle makes his artwork.

http://pbskids.org/
I always use this website when I nanny because it has fun and interactive games that are age appropriate. Another thing that I like about this site is that it is safe for students to use.

This is a reliable site that offers math help.

Hope these help you!

Emerald Falls - Life Story Assignment

Once school was over I would throw down my backpack in the living room, run out the back door, through the woods and into emerald falls. Down in the creek with my best friends, Carly and Kathleen, we were able to play and imagine places we had never been to. One afternoon we would be princesses in Europe and the next day we might be detectives solving a crime.
When we first discovered the creek we just went to it when we were tired of riding our bikes or roller-skating. As Carly, Kathleen, and I entered 3rd grade we continued to go to the creek and ended up naming the different areas. My favorite part of the creek was directly behind my house and had a gorgeous waterfall. Each one of us picked an area of the creek and the waterfall became mine. Emerald falls became my area of the creek and was where I would go when I was upset or just excited to play with my best friends. Now as I look back emerald falls is nothing but a tiny waterfall that isn't as gorgeous as I remembered. Even though emerald falls is not what I remember, I still look back at my memories of the creek with fondness.

Teaching!

This past week Leighton and I got a chance to go and observe our classroom. We are no longer in Kindergarten but 2nd grade. Our class has 24 kids, 14 boys and 9 girls. All of the kids were great and so excited about learning.... for the most part. We got placed with a great teacher, Mrs. Essmiler, and will be teaching an economics unit.

New to Blogging

Today we set up our blogs. I am excited to get to get to start up this blog and share my ideas about teaching.

Yesterday we found out our placements and I will be in a Kindergarten classroom for Block B. Next week we will go with our partners to the schools to meet the teacher and students. I am excited to finally get into the school this semester.
